This loot list is dedicated for helping you gear up your paladin as best as possible. This list includes all Azeroth (pre-Burning
Crusade) loot up to patch 2.3, but no end-game content or Outland gear. The list is split into the following parts:
Please note: This list is by no means a "paladin's have exclusive rights to this" equip list. Please be considerate of
your group members and respect loot rules. Retribution and tanking Paladins will be looking at gear that most warriors will
desire.
New for 1.10, the Soulforge paladin set is obtained by completing a long series of quests
which will upgrade your Lightforge set. You will need the corresponding lightforge set piece for each step in the upgrade process.
Holy, like all healing centric trees, is a high survivability build with low damage potential. Few level with Holy unless they
plan on heavily grouping / instancing. Although there are some high-end Holy builds focused around using this tree to dish out
Holy damage (aka Shockadin), the gear required is deep within level 70 content.
While end-game Protection is not only a viable tanking role but also suprisingly effective at AoE grinding, leveling with
Protection is a slow, tedious experience. Very few Paladins will both much at all with this tree before level 70, although your
survivability is arguably the strongest in game. This tree is really only for players who are group / instance running heavy
early game.
Without a doubt the most popular leveling build, Retribution yeilds the most DPS boosting talents a Paladin can spec in to. Blizzard
has been tweaking this tree for quite a while now, and it seems that they have finally settled on this tree syngergizing with
much of the same gear as DPS Warriors looks for (STR/AP, Crit, and Hit) instead of poorly itemized offensive caster plate (ie
Spellpower, Spellcrit, Mana/5, etc.). Most Retribution Paladins will want to pickup a high DPS 2-hander (preferably 3.4 or slower)
due to the mechanics of both Seal of Command and Crusader Strike.
